Meg Michaels owns a bookstore which she runs with her twin brother
and she is pregnant. To make matters
interesting she recently broke off her engagement to her fiancé who recently
got his dream job in China and he is not the father. The father is her first love whom she ended
up having an affair with despite he is still married and has four kids. But when she told him about her pregnancy, he
tells her he still in love with his wife and is going back to her.
Theo Taylor is a casualty of war, a wounded medic who comes
home to heal. He hates that people pity
him as he struggles with his injuries and pain medicine. He does not see himself as a hero and just
wants to move on without people worrying about him.
At his welcome home party, Meg isn’t feeling well and goes
upstairs to lie down. In walks Theo whose room she ends up in and they end up
sharing the bed platonically. He finds
about her pregnancy which only her best friend knows who also is pregnant.
They start to get to know each other as he ends up moving
in. Theo helps her get ready for the
baby and remodeling one of the rooms for the baby. The time they spend together draws them close
as they end up together and admitting their love for each other.
When the father of the baby reenters the scene, feelings go
astray. The baby room is complete and
Theo moves out and disappears. Meg has
to deal with it along her relationship with her step mom and that of her mom
who disappeared from her life when she was young. Life isn’t all it seems.
Will Theo and Meg find away to come together as each tries
to move forward?
Claire Ashby was born and raised in the heart of Atlanta. At a young age, she began keeping journals and over time embellished the details of her quiet days. Eventually, she let go of writing reality altogether and delved completely into the world of fiction.
When she's not reading or writing, she spends her time watching extreme survival shows and taking long walks after nightfall. She has an unnatural love of high places, but still regrets the time she skydived solo. She believes some things are better left to the imagination. She resides in Austin with her family and a pack of wild dogs.
