Virgin by Radhika Sanghani

4 out of 5 stars Copy for review from Penguin Canada

This is not for someone who isn’t comfort with their bodies or their sexuality.  It is a honest betrayal of what young ladies are thinking but are afraid to ask even of their closest of friends.

Ellie is a twenty-one old virgin and feels like she is an outcast since society has made her feel she is the only one who has not had sex while her friends have already been doing it for years.  When a fail attempt at seventeen as she asks a guy but he declines her offer.  She thinks that something is wrong with her as she tries to lose her virginity.

We experience the insecurities of being female are laid out with the lack of knowledge of certain things.  Ellie finds out things the hard way as she goes through the path of adulthood.  With the aid of her friend Emma they start a v-log which confronts topics that are on her mind coming from two different perspectives.

In the end, it is about learning to except who you are and not get caught up with other people.  Be true to yourself and be proud of who you are and not what society dictates.
