Connor Rikeland finds himself out of a job after years working at a famous Detroit restaurant and not gaining the position of head chef. He wants to be recognized and gain his own food fame but he gets unlikely fame when he stumbles across a dead body in a freezer while applying a job in a casino.

Running out, he ends up getting his wallet stolen and ends up running out of a gas in his rental. He finds himself stealing a small boat and ends up in a small town needing to hide.

Emily Kate Boudreaux runs a restaurant located on a bayou in Texas. Her chef has just walked out on her, to elope to Vegas with his girlfriend and she is in a bind. She only knows how to cook one thing. In walks Connor needing a job and comes to her rescue.

She ends up letting him stay at her place since she has extra bedrooms but the chemistry between heats up as he ends up in her bed. As the sexy chef heats up her bed and draws new people to her restaurant, his new notoriety become a target to murder endangering both of their lives.

Things get worse when Emily’s FBI hears about their living together and that he is somehow involve in his latest case. Trying to protect her he goes back to Detroit with her brother but the enemy targets Emily by planting a bomb in her car.

Can Connor protect Emily or will either get hurt along the way? Emily must figure if he is worth the risk even though he is not what he seems. A nice read.
