Kallie Adams life was seemingly perfect as she graduates from Georgetown and making plans of a future together with her longtime boyfriend Carter Walsh. One tragic night her world is torn apart when Carter is hit by an intoxicated driver and manages to smash into a tree and dies.
Her world is torn apart as she feels a sense of loss. Her parents ends up throwing her a graduation party but she gets cold feet and ends up visiting the accident site. Not wanted to go home she ends up in a bar getting drunk with Ryder Brooks who takes her home to his place.
Nothing happens that night and Kallie meets his sister Scarlett whom he shares his apartment. While Ryder is at work Scarlett offers to drop Kallie to pick up her car but the car will not start and ends up being towed to where Ryder works as a mechanic. The part for her Mercedes has to be special order making her stay in town for ends at the Brooks’ apartment. She ends up working at a diner and making friends. There is a growing attraction between but Ryder is the opposite of Carter in physical features and ambitions,
Ryder has his own secrets and he is afraid that being around her will ultimately ruin her. Will his secret be the downfall or can these two find happiness together? Can they both survive their past and move on together.
